Prysmian Signs €5.5 Billion Molex Deal

Italian cable manufacturer Prysmian Group has announced a long-term agreement worth up to €5.5 billion ($6.4 billion) with Molex as it accelerates its expansion in the fast-growing data centre infrastructure market.
The agreement, signed with Molex, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, will run for up to 10 years and includes an initial payment of €550 million.
Under the partnership, Prysmian will supply optical cables used in data centres, supporting the increasing demand for high-speed connectivity driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing growth.
Prysmian said the deal forms part of a broader series of agreements and commercial initiatives with hyperscalers and data centre infrastructure providers.
The company expects these projects to generate more than €10 billion in additional cumulative revenue by 2035, compared with 2025 levels.

The initiatives are projected to contribute up to €1.1 billion in annual revenue from 2031 as demand for digital infrastructure continues to rise globally.

To support the rapid expansion of AI-powered data centres, Prysmian plans to more than double its fibre production capacity in the United States. The company will invest €1.25 billion through 2031 to strengthen optical cable and fibre manufacturing capabilities across the US and Europe.
The investment programme is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs worldwide, including approximately 600 positions in the US, as Prysmian expands its production network and meets growing market requirements.

Prysmian Chief Executive Officer Massimo Battaini described the agreement and investment plan as a “transformative moment” for the company’s Digital Solutions business. He said the initiatives would strengthen Prysmian’s position in supporting the global shift toward AI infrastructure, advanced connectivity, and next-generation data centre networks.
