US Cyber Agency Uses Anthropic AI to Scan Government Software

The U.S. cyber defense agency CISA is utilizing Anthropic's AI model Mythos to review government software, according to reports, further indicating government interest in embracing the AI startup's technology despite the company's ongoing tensions with the White House.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is utilizing Mythos to examine government code repositories for vulnerabilities that could expose them to foreign spies and cybercriminals, according to reports.
A representative from CISA mentioned last month that he would look into whether there was anything to disclose about the issue, but did not reply to additional emails.
According to reports, the scanning is carried out by CISA's Attack Surface Evaluation team. The team is a unit within CISA that performs cybersecurity evaluations and hacking drills throughout the government.
As per reports, the audits had revealed a significant number of vulnerabilities but did not provide further details.
Anthropic, which has discreetly submitted a U.S. initial public offering, has experienced a rocky relationship with the U.S. government. Relations hit a low point in February when the San Francisco-based firm declined to eliminate measures that barred its AI from being utilized for autonomous weaponry or domestic monitoring.
