Samsung, SK Hynix Eye $950 Billion U.S. Tech Tie-Ups

South Korea’s leading chipmakers, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, are set to pursue a massive long-term memory chip supply partnership with major U.S. technology companies, including Nvidia, in deals collectively valued at around $950 billion, according to reports.

The proposed agreements highlight the growing strategic importance of memory semiconductors in powering artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and next-generation data infrastructure.

Under the plan, SK Hynix is expected to supply approximately $750 billion worth of memory chips to U.S. firms over an extended period, while Samsung Electronics will provide around $200 billion in chips, including a significant supply arrangement with Broadcom.

This initiative reflects South Korea’s intent to strengthen its position as a global semiconductor powerhouse while deepening ties with key U.S. technology leaders.

It also aligns with broader efforts by both countries to secure resilient and reliable supply chains amid rising geopolitical competition in the semiconductor sector.

Industry experts note that demand for high-performance memory chips, particularly those used in AI applications such as data centers and advanced graphics processing, has surged significantly in recent years. Companies like Nvidia, which are at the forefront of AI innovation, rely heavily on cutting-edge memory solutions to support their products and services.

The partnership is expected to deliver long-term stability for both suppliers and buyers, ensuring consistent chip availability while supporting continued technological advancements.

 

For South Korea, it represents a major opportunity to expand exports and reinforce its dominance in the global memory chip market.
