Swiggy Expands Leadership Team as Instamart, Food Delivery Scale

Swiggy has broadened the roles of three senior leaders within its quick-commerce and food delivery sectors as the firm aims to enhance its leadership team while continuing to grow Instamart and its food marketplace.
Himavant Kurnala has been named chief growth and product officer at Instamart, and Nitesh Garg has been promoted to chief technology officer of the quick-commerce company. Saurav Goyal has been named the chief operating officer of Swiggy's food marketplace.

Kurnala has been heading Instamart's product division since 2024, later expanding his role to include growth and brand marketing. In his new capacity, he will integrate growth, marketing, analytics, and product functions.
Throughout his time, Kurnala has contributed to various product initiatives at Instamart, such as AI-driven search and personalization, Maxxsaver, multi-pod delivery, and pricing and merchandising. He has additionally participated in the independent Instamart application and the monetization of its brand platform.
Garg, after over seven years at Swiggy, has been heading engineering for Instamart and New Initiatives as a senior vice-president. Since the business's launch, he has overseen the development of Instamart’s consumer-oriented technology infrastructure and supply chain systems. He has also created technology platforms for advertising, pricing, discounts, and catalogs that are currently utilized by Instamart, Food Marketplace, and other companies.

As CTO, Garg will oversee technology and engineering as Instamart grows, with Swiggy emphasizing AI utilization, operational dependability, and technological infrastructure as primary focal points. Goyal has now taken on the role of COO of the food marketplace after serving in various positions at Swiggy since he started in 2020. His earlier duties encompassed business finance for Food and Instamart and, more recently, product and operations for driver and delivery services. He will keep managing the driver and delivery operations while also being responsible for the food customer experience.
Swiggy mentioned that Goyal contributed to the expansion of the food marketplace and operational efficiencies, along with the firm's IPO process.
He also spearheaded the initiation of the shared delivery network for Toing, which is currently functional in over 50 cities. The appointments occur as Swiggy persists in reorganizing and bolstering its senior leadership team throughout various sectors.
Nandita Sinha serves as the CEO of Instamart, with Gautam Swaroop as the chief business officer. Earlier this year, Swapnil Bajpai was promoted to CEO of Swiggy’s Dineout and Scenes segment. Sidharth Bhakoo remains the chief business officer for the food marketplace.
Girish Menon, the chief human resources officer at Swiggy, stated that the company's strategy involves nurturing internal talent by transitioning executives between functions and assigning them increased responsibilities.

The broadened roles occur as Swiggy attempts to grow Instamart while enhancing the financial aspects of its primary food delivery service. The recent appointments indicate an increased emphasis on combining product, technology, growth, and operations as the company moves into its next stage of expansion.
