Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Appoints Sitaram Kandi as CHRO

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited has revealed a shift in its upper management, as Chief Human Resources Officer Anjali Byce will resign from her position, with Sitaram Kandi appointed as the new CHRO effective July 1, 2026.
In a regulatory filing from May 14, 2026, the company announced that its board sanctioned the modifications following the suggestion of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Byce’s resignation will become effective at the end of business hours on June 30, 2026.

The company announced that Byce chose to exit the organization to explore career opportunities beyond Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
In her letter of resignation to CEO and Managing Director Shailesh Chandra, Byce expressed her appreciation for her experience with the company's people and culture initiatives and thanked the board, leadership team, and colleagues for their assistance.
Kandi, set to take on the position starting July 1, brings more than thirty years of expertise in human resources and industrial relations from organizations such as GE, Monsanto, TE Connectivity, and Bosch.
Prior to this appointment, he was overseeing HR for Tata Motors' passenger and electric vehicle divisions, as well as managing industrial relations and skill development aspects. The document stated that Kandi began working with Tata Motors in 2019 after being employed by international firms both in India and abroad.

Kandi pursued mathematics, economics, and statistics at Osmania University and earned a master’s degree in labor laws and labor welfare from Symbiosis. He has also finished a business analytics course at the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd is set to introduce its inaugural flex-fuel passenger vehicle by the close of this year or the beginning of next, as India works on establishing a regulatory framework for increased ethanol-blended fuels.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, stated that the recent government announcement seeks to establish a category definition for flex-fuel vehicles capable of functioning on various ethanol blend levels.

He mentioned that Tata Motors vehicles have been E20 compliant since 2023. He stated that discussions with the government regarding higher ethanol blends are currently taking place through the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
Tata Motors has been expanding its range of passenger vehicles, including SUVs, electric vehicles, CNG, and petrol powertrains. In FY26, the firm reported its powertrain distribution as 46 percent petrol, 13 percent diesel, 14 percent EV, and 27 percent CNG.
Its EV sales increased by 43 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 92,200 units, while CNG sales exceeded 1.7 lakh units for the year. The company has further broadened its SUV range with offerings like Nexon, Punch, Harrier, Safari, Curvv, Sierra, Harrier.ev, and Punch.ev.
