US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday to talk about the robustness of US partnerships in Bengaluru and the potential of AI and emerging technologies.

Karnataka is home to more than 700 US firms, Gor later mentioned in a post on X.

The chief minister stated in his post on X that he had a friendly conversation with Gor and discussed topics of shared interest. "Karnataka appreciates its collaboration with international partners and is dedicated to enhancing global cooperation," Siddaramaiah stated.

On Monday night, the US Ambassador took a late-night ride in an auto rickshaw with BJP MP Tejasvi Surya (Bangalore South) to provide him with what he referred to as the “true Bengaluru experience.” Surya expressed, “I appreciate the motivating discussion and your faith in our remarkable collective future.”

Bengaluru stands as the pinnacle of the India - U.S. alliance. Gor replied, “From startups to street food, the vibrancy of Bengaluru is unparalleled!” and expressed gratitude to the young BJP leader.

Gor's posts on X received requests for a comprehensive US consulate that offers visa services. Bengaluru, the technology center responsible for roughly 37percent of India's software exports, has its inhabitants traveling to Chennai or Hyderabad for visa assistance. At present, residents are required to visit consulates in different cities at least twice for fingerprinting and visa interviews. This has also caused many students trouble.

The US established a new consulate in Bengaluru in January of last year but has yet to announce when it will start offering visa services to Indian citizens.

Bengaluru is the sibling city of San Francisco, California, and Cleveland, Ohio, and serves as an essential connection to U.S. defense, technology, and aerospace firms. In 1993, the U.S. government opened its Commercial Service office in Bengaluru, marking the inception of its presence in the city.
