Zee Names Aparna Ramachandran as EVP & Head of Network Digital

Aparna Ramachandran has recently been appointed as the Executive Vice President and Head of Network Digital at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited. Prior to joining Zee, Aparna held the position of Head - Digital Originals at Balaji Telefilms Ltd, where she demonstrated a wealth of expertise in digital content strategy and streaming media.

Aparna will be responsible for managing the digital strategy and content for the network's main portfolio in her new role, specifically concentrating on original programming, platform collaborations, and content creation.

She embarked on her professional career by working as a content producer for various broadcast and digital platforms, eventually transitioning into leadership positions that involved overseeing creative projects across OTT, television, and short-form content.

Before starting her position at Zee, she was employed at Balaji Telefilms for a period of five years as the head of digital original content. Throughout her time there, she was responsible for overseeing the creation and management of various shows on prominent streaming platforms, some of which garnered high viewership and recognition on Ormax's popular lists.

Aparna previously occupied high-level creative positions at Viacom18, notably as senior creative director at Voot and overseeing various Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu original content at Viu. Additionally, she boasts an extensive tenure at FremantleMedia, where her responsibilities encompassed scripted, reality, and digital-first programming for the Indian television industry.

Drawing upon a broad range of knowledge and skills in various areas including project management, video production, streaming media, television, broadcast, content strategy, digital strategy, content development, digital media, and creative writing, she possesses a considerable amount of experience which she utilizes to guide Zee Entertainment's digital network strategy.

 

In the previous year, Karan Abhishek Singh resigned from his position as the Chief Executive Officer of Zee Media Corporation Ltd. According to information obtained by BestMediaInfo, Raktim Das, the Chief Growth Officer (Digital & Broadcasting) of TV9 Network, is expected to assume the leadership role. Singh, who assumed the position of CEO at Zee Media in July 2024, is stepping down after slightly more than a year in the position.

Before starting at Zee Media, Singh dedicated over five years of his career at Network18, holding various positions such as CEO in charge of Languages (from January 2019 to April 2021) and CEO overseeing Hindi News (TV & Digital) from April 2021 to May 2024. During this time, he supervised the Hindi cluster and a range of regional language channels. He served as the Chief Growth Officer (Digital & Broadcasting) at TV9 Network starting in August 2021.

Prior to this role, from July 2020 to August 2021, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer at TV9 Studio (Digital & Broadcasting). Prior to joining TV9, Das held leadership roles at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. as the head of the ZEE Innovation Studio and Custom Content division from October 2017 to July 2020. During his tenure at Network18, he served as Executive Vice President in charge of Corporate Strategy from December 2014 to March 2016. Prior to that, he held the role of President at NewsX from September 2013 to June 2014.
