Ajay Mehta Steps Down at WPP Media After 11 Years

Ajay Mehta recently departed from his role at WPP Media after an impressive 11-year tenure, during which he significantly contributed to shaping the network's strategic vision for content and creative services.

Reports indicate that he held the position of Head of Content & Creative Services at WPP Media before this, and he also previously served as Chief Content Officer at Mindshare India.

Ajay is recognized for his role in establishing and expanding the branded-content sector at Mindshare and GroupM, now known as WPP Media. He transformed content partnerships into a key strategic asset for the organization.

Through his guidance, this initiative advanced into a robust framework that connects brands with publishers, creators, platforms, and entertainment networks, aimed at providing cultural significance and impactful business results.

Ajay has accumulated close to twenty years of experience in marketing communications and strategy, during which he has collaborated with renowned agencies such as Mindshare, Ogilvy, and Publicis India.

In these roles, he spearheaded comprehensive content and brand partnership endeavors for a diverse range of clients in industries spanning FMCG, telecommunications, retail, finance, automotive, and technology.

 

He held senior leadership positions at Mindshare for nearly a decade, initially serving as Vice-President before advancing to Senior Vice-President. In these roles, he was responsible for managing content strategy and partnership initiatives for major clients, with a focus on notable projects for Hindustan Unilever.

During Ajay's tenure at GroupM/WPP Media, his leadership had a significant impact on the industry, most notably leading to the winning of a Cannes Glass Lions Grand Prix. This achievement garnered worldwide recognition for India's innovative use of media in creative storytelling.

At a pivotal time for the media sector, his exit coincides with a period of significant change, wherein firms are being scrutinized more for their content creation expertise, digital platform proficiency, and operational efficiency rather than their sheer size in media purchasing power.
