Cygni Energy and Indus Towers Ink MoU for Telecom Energy Storage

Cygni Energy, a company focused on energy storage technology and manufacturing that was incubated at IIT Madras, alongside Indus Towers, a telecom tower infrastructure firm, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to investigate partnership opportunities for energy storage solutions tailored for telecom infrastructure in India.
The suggested partnership will assess the implementation and production of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for telecommunications use.
This involves initiatives to create up to 1.5 GWh of BESS production capability to meet the changing energy needs of telecommunications infrastructure in India.
The partnership is also anticipated to assess cutting-edge battery technologies for telecom purposes, focused on boosting reliability, increasing energy efficiency, and facilitating more sustainable telecom operations.
“For us, this initiative goes beyond supplying batteries".
"It is about building the scale, technology capabilities and manufacturing readiness required to support the evolving energy needs of one of the world’s largest passive telecom infrastructure companies,” says Venkat Rajaraman, founder & CEO, Cygni Energy.
Rajaraman mentioned that Cygni aims to create a capacity of up to 2 GWh, while establishing a portfolio that can transition from the current 100Ah solutions to larger 314Ah systems and new battery technologies.
