TP Solar Records 1 GW Module, 0.9 GW Cell Production in Q2

TP Solar Limited, which is the solar manufacturing division of Tata Power and a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has announced impressive manufacturing results for the second quarter of FY27, generating 1 GW of solar modules and 0.9 GW of solar cells from July to September 2026.
In the initial half of FY27, which spans from April to September 2026, the firm produced 2 GW of solar modules and 1.8 GW of solar cells. The production numbers demonstrate TP Solar's ongoing increase in manufacturing capacity, enhanced operational efficiency, and expanding role in India's domestic solar manufacturing landscape.
The company runs a 4.3 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, noted as one of India’s biggest single-site solar manufacturing plants. Tata Power, through TPREL, has allocated around Rs.4,300 crore to develop the facility as part of its plan to enhance local solar manufacturing capabilities and lessen reliance on imported solar parts.
The production plant creates solar modules that align with India’s Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) standards and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) criteria.
By producing solar cells and modules locally, TP Solar seeks to meet the rising need for domestic solar equipment in utility-scale, commercial, industrial, and other renewable energy sectors.
