UP-Japan Meet to Focus on Green Hydrogen, Semiconductor Push

A prominent CEO Roundtable as part of the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 will take place in New Delhi, concentrating on investment prospects and industrial collaboration between Uttar Pradesh and Japan.
The event at Taj Palace will see participation from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, senior ministers and officials from both the central and state governments, as well as top executives from major Japanese industry groups.
Over 200 industrialists, CEOs, business executives, and policymakers from Japan are taking part in the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, scheduled for August 18 to 23. The delegation from Japan is directed by Kotaro Nagasaki, the Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture.

The delegation will receive information on investment prospects in Uttar Pradesh and governmental policies in various sectors. The opening session will take place at the Durbar Hall of Taj Palace, where Adityanath will recognize the CEOs of Japanese firms active in Uttar Pradesh. A video presentation on the progress of the state's industry and infrastructure will follow this.
The Chief Minister will chair the CEO Roundtable, which will focus on upcoming industrial prospects in the state. Conversations with industry leaders will focus on green hydrogen, renewable energy, electric mobility, semiconductors, advanced materials, automotive parts, and digital infrastructure.
Japanese investors will be informed about the industrial and infrastructure amenities present in Uttar Pradesh along with the state's investment strategies. The occasion will feature a virtual groundbreaking ceremony for initiatives of Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation. The project by Escorts Kubota, valued at approximately Rs.2,025 crore in Sector 10 of YEIDA, is anticipated to create over 3,800 employment opportunities. Minda Corporation has suggested an overall investment of Rs.1,166 crore in two initiatives in Sector 10 and Sector 24, anticipated to generate approximately 6,440 job openings.
The initiatives of both companies signify an investment totaling Rs.3,191 crore and are anticipated to generate over 10,000 employment opportunities.
The event will include a presentation about the planned 500-acre Japan City in YEIDA. Alok Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department, will inform participants about the state's plan and the opportunities for Japanese companies.

Japan City is designed as a cohesive industrial ecosystem for Japanese firms, their suppliers, and related industries. It is anticipated to enhance supply-chain integration, facilitate technology transfer, and create job opportunities.
In addition to the CEO Roundtable, events like the Uttar Pradesh-Japan Innovation, Industry and Investment Dialogue and Accelerating Green Transformation: Mobility, Energy and Strategic Materials will take place during the meeting. These sessions will feature conversations led by experts and industry representatives regarding startups, technology, banking, skilled workforce, green transformation, transportation, energy, and strategic materials.

In the afternoon, special presentations and an exhibition will be arranged for the Yamanashi delegation. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan; Union Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw; Uttar Pradesh Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna; Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi; Urban Development Minister A K Sharma; IT and Electronics Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma; and Minister of State for Industrial Development and Parliamentary Affairs Jaswant Singh Saini, among others, will attend the event.
