US Chipmaker KLA to Invest $ 430 Million in Tamil Nadu

KLA, a semiconductor company based in the US, entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to invest $400 million (approximately Rs.3,600 crore) for establishing a global research, development, and innovation campus in Chennai, according to the state's industries minister.
The planned 12-acre site is anticipated to generate up to 4,000 high-skilled positions and will concentrate on cutting-edge research in high-performance computing, process control engineering software, and AI-driven semiconductor advancements.
“KLA, one of the BIG 3 in semiconductor design and R&D, has today entered into a MoU with Guidance Tamil Nadu to invest $400 million (approximately Rs. “3,600 crore) to set up its international R&D and Innovation Campus in Chennai,” Dr T R B Rajaa mentioned in a post on X.
He added that the 12-acre campus is intended to serve as KLA's global center for R&D and innovation, with the potential to expand to 1.5 million square feet in the future.

It will enhance cutting-edge research in high-performance computing, software for process control engineering, and AI-powered semiconductor advancements.
