The new division, called Wipro Electronic Materials, is setting up a Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing plant in Karnataka, with an investment of about Rs 500 crore, which is expected to generate approximately 350 jobs.
According to the company, this manufacturing facility will create over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates along with related pre-impregnated materials.
Earlier, Wipro announced a long-term strategic contract with Saudi Electric Company – National Grid SA. Wipro will implement a Smart Meter Data Management (MDM) system for the transmission network to update the client’s meter data platform, boost operational efficiency, and enhance risk management.

The company will handle the design, development, implementation, and support of the infrastructure and smart applications for the new MDM system.
By enabling continuous monitoring, the system will enhance grid stability by supplying real-time information on power flow, voltage, and equipment data. Wipro will assist National Grid SA in refining its grid planning through intelligent forecasting and reporting. These smart integrations will facilitate proactive maintenance, quicker fault detection, and improved visibility of energy consumption patterns. This will enable National Grid SA to optimize its power distribution, reduce operational expenses, and lessen outages, leading to a better experience for end users.
