Ford's India GCC Bets Big on Tech; Opens New Coimbatore hub
Ford Business Solutions (FBS) India, the global capability center (GCC) division of automotive giant Ford Motor, has inaugurated a new center in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
This is the firm's third facility in India following major operations in Chennai and a recently opened smaller centre in Bengaluru.
The 800-seat facility in Coimbatore will mainly accommodate the company's accounting, financing (Ford Credit), and various business activities.
The Coimbatore site covers three levels of SVB Tech Park and extends across more than 82,000 square feet. The workplace is tailored for cooperative and hybrid work, featuring over 230 workstations on each floor, along with meeting rooms, quiet areas, booth seating, and pantries.
The Chennai-based Global Technology and Business Center has been instrumental in the design and creation of particular components for Ford Motor's best-selling global vehicles, such as the F-Series, Explorer, Transit, and Ranger.

The firm additionally operates a Technology Incubation Center in Bengaluru. FBS has over 12,000 employees in India, despite Ford Motor Company's departure from vehicle production in the country after closing its facilities in August 2022.
The new centre is mainly designed as a backup location to guarantee continuous services if the Chennai centre's operations are impacted by bad weather or other interruptions. The Coimbatore center covers three levels of SVB Tech Park and extends over 82,000 square feet, accommodating around 800 employees.
