Senior IPS officer Rakesh Aggarwal was designated as the Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), while former Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor was appointed as the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), taking over from Praveen Kumar, who will assume leadership of the Border Security Force (BSF).

The Selection Committee of the Cabinet has officially sanctioned Aggarwal's appointment with a term lasting until August 31, 2028, which coincides with his planned retirement date, as per an announcement from the Department of Personnel & Training.

Kapoor, a member of the 1990 class of the Indian Police Service from the state of Haryana, was removed from his position as the head of the Haryana Police department last month, following his suspension two months earlier in relation to the suicide of a senior IPS officer. Puran Kumar was subsequently appointed to the position of Chairman at the Haryana Police Housing Corporation.
