India’s leading automaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited  revealed the start of commercial production at its second manufacturing plant in the Kharkhoda facility in Haryana, boosting its production capacity in response to increasing domestic demand.

The recently started plant has an annual output capability of 2.5 lakh units, bringing the total capacity at the Kharkhoda site to 5 lakh units each year.

Following the recent expansion, Maruti Suzuki’s total yearly production capability at its locations in Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda in Haryana, as well as Hansalpur in Gujarat, has risen to 26.5 lakh units per year.

When fully operational, the Kharkhoda facility aims to become one of Suzuki Motor Corporation's largest global hubs for passenger vehicle production, targeting an annual production capacity of 10 lakh vehicles.

The recent increase in capacity is in line with the manufacturer’s earlier stated objective to boost annual production capacity by 5 lakh units by FY27.

Currently, the firm produces models such as the compact SUV Brezza and mid-size SUV Victoris at the Kharkhoda facility.
