As per the Ministry of external affairs, India has the largest Diaspora in the world. UAE, the US and Saudi Arabia are the countries hosting the largest number of migrants from India. As per the 2018 Ministry of External Affairs report, there are 2,594,947 Indians residing in Saudi Arabia. This makes around 10-13 percent of Saudi Arabian population. During the initial years of migration, Indian expats in Saudi were small workers seeking a better way to find living, soon after the discovery of oil in 1938. After 1973, the migration skyrocketed. But later on, Saudi found expats from India emerging as businessmen, CEOs, engineers and doctors, with great contributions to Saudi Arabian economy.
Today, Indians are working on every spectrum of Saudi economy from those working in high-end scientific and research jobs to daily wage jobs. The country highly values the contributions of 2.73 million Indian expatriates working in the Kingdom, and they show this through salutation and greetings in Hindi at the third largest airport in the country.
The nation’s vast and open economy welcomes expats from all over the world, with best offerings for doing business in the country. There are many economic and social reasons for the foreigners to set up business in Saudi Arabia. Few of them are the country has the lowest crime rates along with one of the highest standards of healthcare and education. Foreigners doing non oil business there are supported by minimal income and sales tax liability.
